Introducing Mia

Our American Akita

Mia at the kennels on 26 November 2022.

We believe that poor Mia has spent most, if not all, her life incarcerated. We believe she has been treated unkindly in the past (not in the kennels where she's been for more than two years, nor, of course, by the RSPCA who rescued her from her previous 'owners' and successfully prosecuted them for alleged cruelty). We rather wonder if she was used as a 'baby-factory' and also physically abused as she is so subservient and willing to please - as though she'll do anything to avoid being punished. It's as though her 'spirit' has been broken in a similar way to that of a horse that's been 'broken-in'. We hope she will recover her 'spirit' given a lot of time and love from us.

Now it is time for her to enjoy life and have a happy, loving home and family to care for her. We collected her from the kennels on the morning of 29 November 2022 - the start of her new life with us. She is so well behaved and so gentle, it's difficult to believe she's experienced such an awful life. Credit must be given to the staff at the kennels for helping her recovery. Now it's our turn to love her and help her recover fully. She just loves being out and gets so excited when we take her for walks to different places. It's just like she's been set free from prison as she's so curious about everything and keeps stopping to have a look at things that she's almost certain never to have seen in her previous life.
